Dominion laws deal harshly, but fairly for all. There are no separate laws for the rich and the poor. Once, a rather rich merchant was found innocent of abusing employees by a sector court, until the other side brought the matter before a higher court, which saw that the merchant was in fact abusive. As a result, the merchant’s business license was revoked and he had to pay a substantial restitution for his crime.
The Dominion, with one exception, has no death penalty. The one exception is genocide. All crimes can carry the penalty of restitution at the least, the more severe crimes have a prison term and in some cases calls for exile from Dominion space.
The Court system starts at the district level. From there it advances to the County Court then to the Planetary Supreme Court. After that it moves on to the Sector court. From the Sector Court it is to the Supreme Court. After that is the final court in the long latter of due process and appeals: Emperor Arcanis' court.
