USS Motherhome NX - 1102006

Arguably the largest starship ever built by the clan, the Motherhome is a roving space station, city, and shipyard crammed into an kilometers long hull. Construction on the Motherhome began on Dec. 3rd, 3095 AD at the SHinohara Fleet yards in orbit of Hiigara, Clan Black Tiger's homeworld.
To large for conventional dry docks, an custom dry dock was first assembled, and, at 1330 hours HST, after a brief ceremony, the structural support members for one of the ship's 9 ultra-scale computer cores were wielded together. Principle construction was completed on June 5th at 0945 HST, and the ship was launched on shakedowns. Secondary construction would continue for another 64 months, as the ship cleared the system. Its mass would be such that it would be a tidal force were it to orbit a planet.
Nestled in its gray hull is a formidible construction and fabrication mobule, capable of assembling starships and virtually anything else in a 1/4 the time it would take elsewhere, thanks to carefully designed and implimented automation. The main docking bays, of which there is one both port and starboard, can accomdate two galaxy class or sovereign class starships (or one of each), in addition to extensive construction berths, of which, another galaxy or sovereign class ship can be accomodated until its completion.
The secondary Docking bays accomodate the smaller ships, such as Defiant class vessels, or the powerful Vigilance class battlecruiser. These secondary docks, also possess construction docks, and fabrication bays for smaller craft. The ship always has its tender fleet handy for construction or processing of elements to exotic to be produced onboard except in cases of dire necessity. Typically, the megalithic ship will snuggle up to an asteroid belt, suck up resources and move on.
Plans were originally drawn for construction of a sister ship, the Heaven's Gate, but the justification for two such massive craft could not be found thus far. The designs are constantly kept current and revised in the event that policy changes or the need for a second mothership becomes necessary.
The Motherhome presently operates as a mobile supply base and shipyard for the Capellan Control Zone in the Inner Sphere. Suppression of internal elements after the sucess of Operation Hellstorm is not yet complete, although on-the-ground analyse points at aggressors being from the other houses attempting to destablize Clan Black Tiger's grip on the former Capellan Confederation.
